Grant Medwin has been a committed glass artist for 25 years. He works out of his studio on the beautiful foreshore of Battery Point, Hobart, Tasmania, surrounded by ship builders and steel artists.

Grant's fascination with glass grew out of working with custom-made glass windows and kiln-formed glass. His beaded jewellery is made using a technique called lamp spinning, which requires using a hot flame to spin and layer glass onto a stick or mandril. After cleaning, annealing, grading and stringing Grant creates striking and individual bead necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

On Saturday mornings Grant can be found at the popular and iconic Salamanca Market in Hobart selling his jewellery and glassware. His beautiful jewellery can be purchased from galleries across Australia and now online.
